It went Pete Tong…
It all got too much for me towards the end of last year and whilst Christmas was a good break, really good time was had by all and we had a blast, I returned to my contract job in the first full week of the new year to learn that they were letting 4 contractors go.
So with the news of impending diabetes ringing in my ears from the previous week and now my contract is coming to an end. I felt rather broken…
It ain’t all bad…
That was a month ago now, where did January go?
I’ve turned negatives into positives, you can’t knock this dude down!
For one I have gone diet mad and two I have been promoting my freelance web development business like mad.
I have eliminated sugar completely from my diet, I have reverted to eating salad and white meats only, put all alcohol away in a cupboard and sod dry flipping January, why not just go dry for as long as I can.
Anyway this shift of focus, a kind of switch into crisis mode as it were means some stuff I have been enjoying taking part in has suffered and I haven’t written a Write52 post in awhile, so this is my first contribution in ages via the medium of substack.com (my own website will bubble back at some point I am sure).
Sometimes you have to pare down, down tools, re-write your todo list.
Talking of which mine was so long, I could never realistically do it. I use the fabulous app called Things (Mac) and over this weekend as the new month began, I spent the time revamping it and I feel quite happy with a new pattern to my week which is far more realistic and gives me time back!
My week will be split up between some light client work (quiet for a bit until I find a new contract or make do with a couple of freelance gigs), bringing the gym more to the top of the list, so I get regular daily workouts into the mix and some time for blogging and R&D.
I shall track my experiences through this Substack.
See you again soon, I think I am on the mend…
