Literally two days ago we spent some time in Dorset on our way back from the Isle of Wight (see my previous post if you haven’t already) and I wanted to return to my Church project. Sadly it will be awhile before I am able to capture some indoor photos of any of these churches due to Covid 19. In the case of All Saints, that is a shame, as I am told it is as lovely inside as it is out.
All Saints and the village of Chalbury form part of the Wimborne villages parish including the bigger Minster itself. You can read more about them here. I visit the area fairly often, so I will get to visit them all over time.
All Saints was built on the site of an ancient Saxon barrow. Parts of the church building are said to be Early English, which dates it at circa 1180-1280. There are of course a number of later changes and additions.
The view across the countryside nearby is utterly beautiful, very bucolic, very Dorset.
Playing with Lightroom
This evening I updated Lightroom and one of the new features I noticed was that Adobe have added a raft of new premium presets and I just had to have a bit of a play around with them!
It is often interesting to create alternative edits and so I had a little go at creating a second version of the image at the top of this article:
What I did here:
In Lightroom open up the Edit tools or press ‘E’
Click on Presets
Cinematic: CN01
That was that, easy, but we can of course play a lot more with this stuff for all manner of results. Do you have any favourite presets for your edits? Favourite churches, places etc?
I also welcome comments and shares of my content ;-)
Last of all, if you wish to visit this church, here is the Google Maps link. If you get the chance to go, take some change and leave them with a donation, as many people including us have not been able to recently.
